Hanwell Town drew 0-0 with Hungerford Town in a dull affair at the Powerday Stadium. The hosts came into the game on a seven-match unbeaten run. In contrast, the visitors hadn’t won in five games before Saturday’s clash.
The first 15 minutes of the game came and went without an opportunity for either side. The first chance of the match came when Bradley Hooper broke into space on the left before firing a shot that Trent Carter-Rogers did well to save.
Hanwell had an appeal for a penalty turned down moments later when Ezekiel Coker was played through on goal. He collided with goalkeeper Ryan Clarke, but no foul was given either way.
A mistake from Chris Regis allowed Hungerford to break and Calum Woodcock did brilliantly to block a Dawid Regulla effort destined to open the scoring.
Hungerford continued their impressive start and would’ve had an opener if not for Harry Seabrook’s heroic tackle on Regulla.
Hanwell had their first real chance of the game when the returning Taylor Miles found space on the right before delivering a cross. Tall striker Alfie Pendlebury got his head to the ball but could only glance it over the bar.
In the 42nd minute, Chris Regis tried his luck from about 30 yards out. The midfielder’s spectacular effort was inches wide and was the closest either team came to opening the first half scoring.
The Geordies improved in the second half with Coker finding space in behind before mishitting his shot.
The visitors showed they were still a threat when top scorer Ellis Watts forced Carter-Rogers to save his shot from the right of the box after a good Hungerford move.
Jordan Edwards showed his own quality moments later when he weaved in and out of Hungerford defenders in the penalty area. The Hanwell attacker’s eventual shot was blocked by Louis McGrory.
Hanwell’s best sequence of the game came in stoppage time. Debutant Aderi Dede played through Pendlebury before the striker sold multiple Hungerford defenders with a dummy and saw his shot saved by Clarke
The resulting Dan Carr corner rebounded off a Hungerford defender and onto the bar. At the full-time whistle, both sides were left thinking that a slight improvement would have led to the three points being theirs.
The draw takes Hanwell up to 10thin the table, three points off the playoff places. The Geordies face Frome on Tuesday, before a big FA Trophy game with Eastleigh on Saturday.
Hanwell XI: Carter-Rogers, Wilson, Carr, Woodcock, Duncan, Seabrook, Regis, Mackenzie (Dede 69’), Pendlebury, Edwards (English 69’), Coker (Orlando-Young 76’)
Unused sub: Benyon
Late goals from Joe Wilson and Ezekiel Coker led Hanwell Town to the fourth round of the London Senior Cup with a 2-0 over Cockfosters on Tuesday.
In a tie lacking major chances for either side, a display of quality from the returning Wilson set the Geordies up for their seventh game without defeat. Coker showed composure from the spot in stoppage time to secure the win.
Manager Chris Moore made eight changes from the side that beat Poole Town 2-1 on Saturday with young goalkeeper Trent Carter-Rogers making his first appearance since the 5-0 over Hendon in October.
It was a tense opening, with Hanwell’s squad players looking to make the most of their chance to impress.
Cockfosters had the first chance of the game in the seventh minute. After some fast play down the right, Ryan Hayes shot at goal from the right of the box. Carter-Rogers was alert and parried the shot away.
Hanwell grew into the first half and had their first chance in the 16th minute. Rod Orlando-Young found Wilson on the edge of the box and the full-back’s threatening volley left Cockfosters goalkeeper Charlie Patmore concerned before drifting past his right post.
Orlando-Young was involved again four minutes later, finding space on the right of the penalty area before curling a shot just wide of the left post.
In the 27th minute Calum Woodcock won the ball in Cockfosters’ half before playing in Orlando-Young down the right. The winger sailed past a couple of visiting defenders before his shot was eventually blocked.
Yiandi Goulandris caused trouble down Hanwell’s right all game and created two opportunities to open the scoring in the opening period. First, after dribbling past multiple defenders the winger had his cross pushed away by Carter-Rogers.
Next, Goulandris played in Antonio Michael after some more smart dribbling. The forward’s shot was brilliantly blocked by Harry Seabrook and the game remained scoreless at half-time.
In the 50th minute, Carter-Rogers was called into action once again. Malik Nosike drove into the box from the right before firing a low shot at the Hanwell goalkeeper. The Geordies stand-in shot stopper proved himself to be a safe pair of hands once again, parrying the shot away.
The second half was fairly uneventful, with lower league Cockfoster having the majority of the ball. However, in the 82nd minute it was Hanwell who took the lead.
A cross from the left by Kameron English wasn’t properly cleared and fell to Wilson at the back post. The full-back calmly took the ball down before curling a shot into the top left corner.
Nearly 10 minutes later, in stoppage time, substitute Coker was brought down in the penalty area. The young striker made no mistake from the spot, firing his penalty into the bottom left corner.
The win sees Hanwell into the fourth round of the London Senior Cup where they will face the winner of AFC Wimbledon vs Tooting and Mitcham. The Geordies have put up a good performance in the cup competitions this season and are also still alive in the FA Trophy and Middlesex Senior Cup.
Hanwell now continue a run of five home games in a row. This weekend they welcome Hungerford to the Powerday Stadium.
Hanwell:Carter-Rogers, Wilson, English, Case (Carr 57’), Duncan, Seabrook, Pache (Coker 75’), Woodcock (Regis 58’), Pendlebury, Boayke, Orlando-Young

Our Southern League Premier trip to Plymouth Parkway has been rescheduled for Tuesday 21 January 2025.
This fixture was postponed due to Hanwell facing Eastleigh in the FA Trophy on Saturday 7 December 2024.
Kick-off will be at 7:45pm.
Hanwell's extended run of games without a defeat grew to five with this excellent away win at Poole Town.
Our side showed one change from that which had beaten Folkestone Invicta the previous Saturday with Elliott Benyon replacing the suspended Alfie Pendlebury after he had reached the benchmark of five yellow cards. It was Elliot's first time in the starting line up since our opening game of the season way back in early August. Driving down to Poole in the team coach it seemed likely that the game would be called off due to the dreadful weather, a fate suffered at several other games in the area but ours survived and the pitch was perfectly playable.
Play was very even in the opening fifteen minutes with the only incident of note being a scramble in the Poole goalmouth as the home team failed to deal with a Danny Carr free kick. Five minutes later an excellent Poole build up saw Sam Beasant race off his line to scramble the ball to safety. Minutes later another good move down the right culminated in a Tyler Forbes cross but there was no Poole player up in support to apply the finishing touch.
The Geordies took the lead in the 25th minute when good work by Mat MacKenzie saw the ball reach a totally unmarked Dan Carr in the home side's penalty area and he rifled the ball home. Play continued to flow from end to end up to the half time whistle but before which Poole's Ezio Touray saw his header hit the cross bar and Sam then made a great follow up save from Harvey Slade.
Poole were the brighter side in the early stages and equalised in the 53rd minute. An excellent run down the wing by Dario De Lica set up Touray to fire his shot into the corner of the net. It felt like the momentum had swung to Poole but minutes later on the hour mark, a remarkable overhead kick by Carr way out on the left flank saw the ball find the far corner of the home side's net with goalkeeper Cam Plain left stranded.
Skipper Sam Beasant then made a tremendous save to deny Touray as he raced clear from midfield. Poole's hopes were thwarted when their right back Oakley Hanger was sent off with just 15 minutes remaining.
Town held out reasonably comfortably as the minutes ticked away and should have increased their lead deep into injury time when substitute Kameron English found himself right through with only the keeper to beat who was yards out of his goal but instead of trying to round him, Kameron tried to chip the ball over him but only succeeded in shooting straight at the keeper.

Hanwell Town's Southern League fixture at Plymouth Parkway on 7 December has been postponed due to the Geordies being in FA Trophy action. No date has been set for the rearranged fixture.
Hanwell’s home game with Frome, which was due to take place on 16 November, will now be played on 3 December.
Two second half goals saw Hanwell Town into the third round of the FA Trophy for the first time in the club’s history with a 2-0-win over Folkestone Invicta on Saturday (November 16 2024).
Following a tense first half, Alfie Pendlebury’s seventh goal of the season just before the hour mark sent The Geordies on their way before Mat Mackenzie capitalised on a mistake from Jonathan Henly to secure The Geordies place in the next round.
Despite having the majority of possession early on, Hanwell conceded the first chance of the game. Folkestone top scorer Dan Smith evaded Geordie defenders but dragged his shot wide.
Hanwell looked like a threat on the counter, using Emerson Sutton’s pace to quickly advance down the right. When the youngster found Jordan Edwards in the box, the Geordies’ top scorer couldn’t get his shot away quick enough, and the ball was eventually cleared.
Folkestone then took charge of the possession battle with captain Dean Rance dictating play. However, they struggled to create many chances as Hanwell’s defence, led by some brilliant Callum Woodcock interceptions, stood firm.
The home side had their best chance of the first half when substitute Matty Fanimo used his pace to get past Harry Seabrook and through on goal. His low shot from the right of the box was saved by Sam Beasant and the scores remained level.
Hanwell regained control of the ball towards the end of the half with Mackenzie and Edwards both having shots blocked. Both sides went into the break feeling they could’ve played better, and the game was anyone’s to take in the second half.
It was visitors who came out the dressing room the sharpest. Chris Regis and Mackenzie stopped Rance getting on the ball, and Sutton and Carr continued to cause damage on the flanks.
Hanwell got their reward in the 58th minute when Sutton again beat the tired Frankie Morgan on the right. The young wing-back then laid the ball off to the overlapping Woodcock and his cross found Pendlebury at the near post.
The tall striker made no mistake and glanced his header past Henly for his fourth goal in the FA Trophy.
In the 72nd minute, Folkestone had their best attempt of the game so far through Fanimo. The winger skipped past a Hanwell defender and fired a shot from outside the box. Luckily for the Geordies, Beasant was alert and saved the shot.
Hanwell continued to look for a second goal, Coker was clean through before a brilliant tackle from Kassarate and Carr curled an effort over the bar.
In stoppage time, with Folkestone desperately looking for an equaliser, Mackenzie caught goalkeeper Henly dwelling on the ball. After dispossessing him with a perfectly timed slide tackle, the midfielder then placed the ball into an empty net.
The win sparked celebrations among the travelling Hanwell fans as they recognised the achievement of reaching the third round of The FA Trophy for the first time in the club’s history.
Next, the Geordies face Cockfosters in the London Senior Cup on Tuesday before another long trip to Poole next weekend.
Hanwell: Beasant, Sutton, Carr, Woodcock, Duncan, Seabrook, Regis, Mackenzie, Pendlebury (Boayke 83’), Edwards (Orlando-Young 90+3’), Coker (Pache 90+1)
Unused Subs: Benyon, English
Ezekiel Coker’s penalty, five minutes before half-time, was enough as Hanwell Town booked their place in the third round of the Middlesex Senior Cup at the expense of Enfield Town.
The Geordies were made to work by their National League South opponents with Sam Beasant making some fine saves but, overall, ended the game in complete control
Chris Moore shuffled his pack, giving the likes of Alfie Pendlebury and Jordan Edwards a rest, bringing in Coker and Rod Orlando-Young to start, while Ryan Case returned to the side after his injury against Glebe.
The Geordies were slow out of the traps and Enfield could have been 2-0 up inside the first 10 minutes. Beasant made a superb save to tip Sam Youngs’ header onto the bar and the Hanwell stopper also denied Tarrelle Whittaker as the visitors had the better of the opening exchanges.
The Geordies needed time to get into the game and, midway through the first half, Harry Seabrook played through Orlando-Young. His shot was well saved by James Hillson and Michael Adu put his body on the line to deny English.
With five minutes to go before the break, Hanwell were given a golden opportunity to open the scoring as Harry Seabrook was shoved in the back from a long through in the penalty area, giving the referee no option but to point to the spot.
Coker stepped up and his effort was too powerful for Hillson and found the bottom left hand corner to put the Geordies in front.
The goal gave Hanwell a much needed boost and they exhibited confidence on the ball as they played at their pace to frustrate Enfield both before and after the break. Beasant was called into action 10 minutes into the second half to deny Whittaker with a fine stop.
The Geordies started to show their class and played the ball around nicely, creating chances but just lacking the finishing touch in their game. Nathanael Boakye had a glorious opportunity to put the game to bed with 15 minutes remaining when clean through on goal but dragged his shot wide.
The Towners were dangerous on the break though and Dylan Adjey-Hersey drew another fabulous save from Beasant as his top-corner bound effort was turned behind for a corner by the Geordies skipper with 10 minutes remaining.
Hanwell, though, were not to be denied victory and confidently saw out the remaining time in the contest to reach the next round and the Geordies are now the highest ranked side left in the competition.
Hanwell: Beasant, Sutton, Woodcock, Case (Regis 73), Duncan, Seabrook, Carr, Boakye, Orlando-Young, English, Coker (Pendlebury 80).
Subs Not Used: Benyon, Mackenzie, Edwards.
A beautiful late strike from Dan Carr saw Hanwell Town extend their unbeaten run to three games away at Tiverton Town.
Jordan Edwards’ 48thminute goal was cancelled out by Joe Parker just two minutes later. This came after high-tempered first-half where Geordies manager Chris Moore was sent off.
Hanwell responded well to surrendering their lead and eventually claimed all three points through Carr.
Tiverton looked to start manager Rob Dray’s home league debut quickly and had a chance to take the lead in the third minute.
A threatening run down the right from Dylan Jones saw him cut into the box. A brilliant block from Harry Seabrook prevented Tivvy getting a shot away.
Four minutes later, a ball over the top of the Hanwell defence sent Bailey Kempster through on goal. His shot from the left of the box failed to trouble Beasant.
The next 20 minutes went by without incident, with both teams struggling to keep the ball long enough to create a chance.
Hanwell’s first half-chance came towards the end of the half. A Carr free kick found the head of Dwayne Duncan but the defenders header was straight at Tiverton goalkeeper Joseph Duncan.
After two disagreements with the referee, manager Moore received two yellow cards and was sent off.
The first half ended with both teams frustrated with their lack of chances and looking to provide more excitement after the break.
In the 49th minute, some brilliant hold up play by Alfie Pendlebury saw him play in Ezekiel Coker down the left. The forward then delayed his cross, waiting for runners, before finding Edwards at the front post.
Hanwell’s top scorer made no mistake and tapped home for his tenth league goal of the season.
The Geordies lost their lead quickly when Parker evaded Hanwell’s attention and was played one on one with Beasant. The striker sneaked the ball underneath the Hanwell goalkeeper to the level the scoreline.
The Geordies looked to respond and after a Carr corner caused a scramble in the box, Pendlebury’s spectacular overhead kick attempt flew over the bar.
After Coker was fouled on the edge of the Tiverton box, Edwards’ curling free kick was tipped over the bar by Duncan.
Mat Mackenzie, on his return to the side, saw his volley from the edge of the box drift just wide.
In the 82nd minute, another cross caused chaos in the Tiverton box. The ball eventually found its way to Carr, who, on his weaker left foot, smashed a volley brilliantly into the right of the net.
Hanwell then saw out the game superbly, stopping Tiverton having any real chances to equalise. The win sees The Geordies jump to 13th in the Southern Premier League South, only four points behind fifth placed Dorchester.
The Geordies are back in action on Tuesday when they welcome Enfield Town to the Powerday stadium in the Middlesex Senior Cup. Then, on Saturday, Hanwell face another long away trip as they travel to Folkestone Invicta in the FA Trophy.

A late Jordan Edwards penalty salvaged a 1-1 draw for Hanwell Town against Winchester City.
The Geordies fell behind early when Ollie Griggs tapped home from close range. A half-time substitution from Chris Moore brought the best out of his side and they had multiple chances to equalise as the game looked to be slipping away from them.
Then in the 94th minute a Kameron English cross hit a Winchester hand, and the referee pointed to the spot. Edwards made no mistake from 12 yards to earn Hanwell a point from a frustrating afternoon at the Powerday Stadium.
Both teams came into the game off the back off big wins in the FA Trophy, Hanwell beat Hendon 5-0, while Winchester ran out 4-0 winners over Tavistock.
Hanwell started quickly and had two early shots from Chris Regis and Emerson Sutton blocked after Edwards had crossed the ball in from the right.
In the fifth minute, a loose pass from Nathanael Boayke sent Winchester midfielder Jamie Barron through on goal. He dragged his shot from the left of the box just past Sam Beasant’s right post.
Alfie Pendlebury showed his perseverance when chasing down Josh McCormick. The tall striker eventually won the ball on the left of the box and pulled it back for Sutton. The young wingers shot from the left corner of the penalty area flew over the bar.
In the 10th minute, Ik Hill showed his skill and glided past Callum Woodcock before firing a cross past the goalmouth. Ollie Griggs reacted quickest and tapped the ball in at the back post.
Hanwell almost had an equaliser in the 28th minute. Sutton’s dangerous curling shot hit the post and almost bounced back to Harry Seabrook. Winchester goalkeeper Luke Cairney did brilliantly to push the ball away.
After an uneventful end to the first half, Hanwell came out after the break with much more energy.
A Dan Carr free kick was held up well by Pendlebury and the striker laid the ball off for Boayke. The young midfielder couldn’t keep his shot down and The Geordies were left frustrated once again.
Sutton, after being moved to his favoured right-wing position at the start the second half, was at his best. His tricky runs created numerous opportunities for Hanwell.
Ezekiel Coker showed some skill of his own when he skipped past Griggs on the left and fired a shot at goal. Goalkeeper Cairney was busy throughout the second half and leaped brilliantly to push another Hanwell shot away.
Hanwell had the ball in the net in the 75th minute through Pendlebury. However, the officials judged that the Geordies striker handled the ball and the goal was disallowed.
Sutton was up to his usual tricks a few minutes later as he drove down the right wing and cut inside. The youngster’s powerful shot was deflected wide for a Hanwell corner.
In the final minute of normal time, the ball kindly bounced to Pendlebury on the edge of the box. The Geordie striker’s volleyed effort flew just over the bar.
Hanwell finally got the luck their play deserved in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Substitute English found space on the left and crossed. The cross appeared to hit a Winchester hand and the referee pointed to the spot.
Winchester defender McCormick received a second yellow card for dissent in the fallout following the penalty decision. Edwards powered his penalty into the top left corner to salvage a point for the home side.
The draw sees Hanwell drop to 16th in the table and Winchester remain 19th. Next week, the Geordies take on Tiverton Town at The Ian Moorcroft Stadium.
