Hanwell will travel to Folkestone Invicta in the Second Round Proper of the FA Trophy.
The Geordies, who equalled their best run in the competition with a 5-0 win over Hendon, will make the trip to the Kent coast on 16 November.
As a result, the Southern League home clash with Frome Town has been postponed to a later date.
A hat-trick from Alfie Pendlebury led Hanwell Town to an empathic 5-0 win over Hendon in the Isuzu FA Trophy first round.
The striker’s opener was his first goal since a brace in the FA Cup against Sheppey United in September. Pendlebury took confidence from his opener and added to his account just before the break. A 60th minute penalty sealed the number nine's hat-trick.
Second-half goals from Dwayne Duncan and Nathan Boayke capped off a brilliant day for the Geordies, who were without key players Sam Beasant, Ezekiel Coker Sonukan, and Mat Mackenzie.
Hendon had the first chance of the game in the fourth minute when Niko Muir found space on the right. His cross was brilliantly blocked by Duncan before Pendlebury cleared the resulting corner.
Hanwell first threatened in the ninth minute with Jordan Edwards, Emerson Sutton, and Chris Regis all combining to set up Callum Woodcock on the edge of the box. The Geordies captain for the day could only scuff his long range shot into the hands of Luke Campbell.
In the 13th minute, a brilliant run by Sutton ended in the young winger being fouled to the right of the penalty area. The resulting free kick from Dan Carr found its way to the back post where Pendlebury was waiting to tap the ball home.
Four minutes later, Pendlebury could’ve added to his tally. Sutton again got the best of Hendon defenders on the right before sending a low cross into the box. Hanwell’s striker was sliding in at the back post but missed the ball by a boot length.
Two minutes before half time, some brilliant work in the box by Jordan Edwards saw the ball find Pendlebury open in the box. The striker slotted the ball past Campbell for his second goal of the afternoon.
Hanwell had their stand-in goalkeeper to thank just before half time. Niko Muir’s shot from just outside the box looked set to be heading straight for the top corner until Trent Carter-Rogers reached across superbly with his right hand and tipped the ball over.
Three minutes into the second half, Hendon pushed forward as they looked to get back into the tie. After some brilliant play around the Hanwell box, Cumberbatch could only fire his shot straight at Carter-Rogers.
Just after the hour mark, Kyron Richards was brought down in the box and Pendlebury made no mistake from the resulting penalty, firing into the bottom left corner to complete his hat-trick.
Things got worse for Hendon in the 70th minute, Sutton’s tricky footwork won Hanwell a free kick on the left of the penalty area. The free kick was eventually cleared behind for a corner following a goalmouth scramble. Carr’s set piece was flicked in by Duncan at the front post.
Boayke scored the final goal of the game in the 78th minute, capitalizing on a goalmouth scramble following Sutton’s cross in from the right.
Hanwell manager Chris Moore was impressed with how his side dealt with injuries to key players.
Moore said: “We had quite a few out so for the lads to come in, we had a few square pegs in round holes out there who were outstanding.
“We were asking people to play in positions they hadn’t played in this season so for us to record a 5-0 win against a good side like Hendon is really good for us.”
The scoreline was a shock result for everyone at the Powerday stadium, with the two sides drawing both games against each other last season.
With the win, Hanwell have equalled their record run in the FA Trophy for the third time in four seasons. The Geordies will find out who they will play in the second round on Monday with the tie to be played the weekend of 16 November.
Hanwell: Cater-Rogers, Wilson (Richards 31’), Carr, Woodcock, Duncan, Seabrook, Regis, Boayke, Pendlebury (Benyon 76’), Edwards (English 79’), Sutton (Orlando-Young 81’)
Hanwell returned from a Wednesday night trip to Hampshire with nothing to show for their efforts as Havant & Waterlooville took all three points.
Ryan Seager and Harvey Bradbury both scored twice for the Hawks, with Joe McNerney also finding the target. The Geordies twice attempted to rally from two goals down with Jordan Edwards and Chris Regis finding the net.
Hanwell made a bright start and Alfie Pendlebury forced Ben Dudzinski into a diving save inside the opening 45 seconds before Zeeks Coker headed wide when well placed 15 minutes in.
The Geordies were made to pay for their profligacy in front of goal and a defensive clearance cannoned off Bradbury into the path of Seager. His looping shot went over Trent Carter-Rogers, making his debut in place of the absent Sam Beasant, and into the net to give Havant a 22nd minute lead.
Seager should have made it 2-0 with 10 minutes remaining of the first half but, as good as his goal was, this miss was as bad with the frontman firing over from six yards out.
Dan Carr and Edwards both tested the Havant keeper but Hanwell went into the break two goals down as a break down the right flank saw the ball played into the box with Bradbury nodding home from a yard out after the ball looped up and over Carter-Rogers.
Hanwell rallied after half-time and the Geordies got themselves back into the game after 57 minutes as Carr’s free kick was turned back across goal by captain Will Hall and Edwards tapped home.
The Geordies were hoping to build on this lifeline but, two minutes later, the two goal deficit was restored. Carter-Rogers made a good save to deny Bradbury when clean through on goal. But, from the resulting corner, a well worked routine found its way to McNerney to head home at the back post.
Hanwell continued to rally and had a chance to cut the deficit again when McNerney was penalised for handling in the area. Regis stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to give Hanwell hope with 22 minutes remaining.
But, two minutes later, history repeated itself as Havant worked the ball down the left flank and, from a powerful cross, Bradbury headed home.
Both sides continued to create chances with the Geordies continuing to try and battle their way back into the game. However, Seager grabbed his second and Havant’s fifth to give the Hawks a victory they deserved, although the three goal margin was certainly harsh on Chris Moore’s side.

Hanwell Town put in an excellent performance to stun high-flying Dorchester Town 3-0 on Saturday (19 October 2024) at the Avenue Stadium. The home side were unbeaten in six games before the Geordies arrived in Dorset.
Dan Carr’s early volley set Hanwell on their way before some fine defensive work frustrated the hosts and allowed the Geordies to grab their second goal through Jordan Edwards in first half stoppage time.
More frustration followed in the second half for the favourites and Hanwell showed they weren’t just holding on to their lead when they added a third through Will Hall with 20 minutes to go.
Hanwell then defended bravely for the rest of the game to hand Dorchester their first home defeat of the season. The Geordies win over the Magpies was their first since a 2-1 win in 2022 at the Powerday Stadium.
Dorchester entered the game in a confident mood and looked to catch Hanwell out early. Marcus Daws cut in from the left, but his low driven shot was straight at Sam Beasant.
In the 4th minute, it was the Geordies who made a fast start. A cross from Emerson Sutton on the right was only cleared as far as Carr. The defender’s volley into the ground bounced over Dorchester defenders and into the right of the goal.
It was the perfect start for Chris Moore’s side, who pushed on for a second goal. Carr’s free kick from left was flicked on by Hall but there no Hanwell player waiting at the back post to tap the ball in.
Dorchester had their best chance of the game in the 25th minute when a long ball caused confusion between Rudi Pache and Beasant. The goalkeeper’s clearance landed at the feet of Magpies top scorer Olaf Koszela, however, the strikers shot at an empty goal was wide to the left.
There was again confusion in the 35th minute, this time among Dorchester fans. A powerful shot from Koszela appeared to go in the top left corner and was greeted by cheers from Magpies fans.
However, the ball had hit the left stanchion and bounced into the net behind the goal, leaving home fans frustrated once again.
Following many Dorchester corners in first half stoppage time, Hanwell broke away down the right. Alfie Pendlebury, a nuisance to Magpies defenders all afternoon, brought down a long ball and played in Chris Regis.
The midfielder then poked the ball to Edwards on the right of the penalty area. The Hanwell striker beat two home defenders with a feint before dragging a shot into the bottom left corner.
At the start of the second half, a wounded Dorchester looked to hit back. Luke Pardoe was played through on the right and found Corby Moore with a low cross. However, the midfielder overhit his effort and Hanwell could breathe a sigh of relief.
The next 20 minutes continued in similar fashion with Dorchester desperately trying to find a way back into the game. Long shots from Jack Dickson and Jordan Ngalo didn’t trouble Beasant and the hosts anger began to show.
During this time, Hanwell defended brilliantly and looked a threat on the break. Substitute Nathan Boayke created a good chance for Carr, but the full back put his effort over the bar.
In the 69th minute, Hanwell completed a perfect game with their third goal of the afternoon. A free kick from the right from Carr found Hall again and this time the tall defenders glanced header found the top right corner.
Hanwell saw the game out magnificently from then on for their first win in six league games. It was also the Geordies first clean sheet since a 0-0 draw to Gloucester in September.
Next, Hanwell travel to Havant & Waterlooville on Wednesday before an FA Trophy clash with Hendon on Saturday.
Hanwell: Beasant, Carr, Pache (90+2’ Duncan), Woodcock (71’ English), Seabrook, Hall, Sutton, Regis, Pendlebury, Edwards (45’ Boakye), Sonukan (82’ Richards)
Unused substitutes: Benyon
Two goals from Liam Ferdinand helped Basingstoke Town to a 2-1 win over Hanwell Town on Tuesday (15 October) night.
The start of the game at the Powerday stadium was delayed by 15 minutes due to traffic problems. At 8pm, Basingstoke kicked off without goalkeeper Simon Grant.
The shot stopper eventually arrived in the 16th minute and replaced Simon Dunn, with temporary goalkeeper Curtis Angell moving to right back.
Following the chaos, a Ferdinand goal either side of half-time left the visitors in control. However, Hanwell didn’t give up and Jordan Edwards’ goal on the hour mark led to a nervy finish for the visitors.
Basingstoke, entering the game fifth in the Southern League Premier South, started quickly as they looked to keep the ball away from stand in goalkeeper Angell.
The visitors kept possession well without scoring although Hanwell did have one opportunity to test Angell when Edwards was brought down on the edge of the box. The striker could only fire his free kick into the wall and behind for a corner.
In the 30th minute, a loose Hanwell pass found Basingstoke’s George Reid on the left. His low shot was saved by Sam Beasant, but Ferdinand was waiting to tap the rebound into an empty net.
Hanwell had a chance to equalise just before halftime when a looping cross from Dan Carr on the left found the head of Dwayne Duncan. The Hanwell defender’s header was well over the bar.
Hanwell manager Chris Moore opted to change his formation at the start of the second half. The injured Joe Wilson was replaced by Chris Regis and Rudi Pache moved into a back three with Duncan and Will Hall. Carr and Kameron English were now wingbacks.
Basingstoke still found space in the Geordie’s new system and could’ve increased their lead when Reid found himself one on one with Beasant once again. This time Beasant saved brilliantly, and Hanwell were able to clear any rebound.
In the 56th minute a Hanwell freekick was headed straight back, sending Ferdinand clean through on goal. The Basingstoke striker fired the ball into the bottom left corner to double the visitors’ lead.
Hanwell got themselves back in the game 6 minutes later. Sutton Emerson, making his full home debut after joining Hanwell on a month loan from QPR, beat a Basingstoke defender and raced into the box.
He then squared the ball to Edwards who slotted the ball into the bottom left corner for his sixth goal of the season.
Hanwell were then pushing for an equaliser during the remainder of the game. Carr’s trickery found him some space on the left but his inviting cross across the goalmouth could not find a Geordie boot.
Emerson created Hanwell’s best chance of the game late on. The young wingers showed off his skill down the right and his low cross caused a goal mouth scramble. The ball then fell to Ezekiel Coker-Sonukan who could only hit the bar from close range.
The rest of the game fizzled out for another frustrating defeat for Hanwell, who drop
to 15th in the Southern League Premier South table. On Saturday, they will travel to 5th placed Dorchester.
Hanwell: Beasant, Wilson (Regis 45), Carr, Pache, Duncan, Hall, English (Coker Sonukan 65), Woodcock, Pendlebury (Benyon 64), Edwards, Emerson (Orlando-Young 90+3)
Unused Substitutes: Boayke
A goal in each half condemned Hanwell to a 2-0 defeat at high-flying AFC Totton.
After a 4-2 win in the London Senior Cup at Glebe on Wednesday, manager Chris Moore restored his usual starters into the side.
The hosts created the first opportunity of the contest as Sam Beasant made a good save to deny former QPR striker Charlie Austin. Had the frontman scored, it would not have counted as the offside flag was up.
The Geordies had a golden opportunity to take the lead on 18 minutes as Dwayne Duncan was adjudged to have been fouled in the penalty area. Jordan Edwards stepped up but his effort was saved by Josh Gould, diving to his left.
That miss was to prove pivotal as, 10 minutes later, Totton took the lead after they worked the ball down the right flank. The ball came across goal and Austin was unmarked to fire home past Beasant.
Having taken the lead, the hosts started to slow the game down and chances were at a premium for Hanwell as they went into the break trailing.
The Geordies kept knocking on the door but couldn’t find a way through the Totton defence and they doubled their lead in fortuitous fashion. The Stags launched a counter attack and the ball took an unlucky deflection off Rudi Pache and Ash Clarke had time and space to slot the ball home.
Austin should have made it 3-0 but his free header was straight at Beasant and that sparked Moore into ringing the changes.
Zeeks Coker, Emmerson Sutton, Chris Regis and Elliot Benyon came on and replaced Alfie Pendlebury, Cameron Rohart-Brown, Kameron English and Joe Wilson on 70 minutes with Rod Orlando-Young coming on for Edwards seven minutes later.
Totton looked the most likely to score but Tony Lee, when clean through, went down in a fashion that would make Tom Daley cringe and the unimpressed referee issued the Stags’ frontman a yellow card. Marcel McIntosh also was penalised when he had an open goal to aim at; but missed anyway.
Even with 10 minutes added on, Hanwell were unable to find a way back into the game and made the trip back to London with nothing to show for their efforts. It’s a quick turnaround with Basingstoke visiting the Powerday Stadium on Tuesday night.
Hanwell: Beasant, Wilson (Benyon 70), Rohart-Brown (Sutton 70), Duncan, Pache, Hall, English (Regis 70), Woodcock, Pendlebury (Coker 70), Edwards (Orlando-Young 77), Carr
Substitutes: Regis, Sutton, Benyon, Orlando-Young, Coker.
Emmerson Sutton has joined Hanwell Town on a one-month loan from Championship club, Queens Park Rangers.
Welcome to the Powerday, Emmerson.
Hanwell Town survived a second half fightback from Glebe to progress into the next round of the London Senior Cup.
The Geordies had raced into a 3-0 lead midway through the first half thanks to an Ezekiel Coker brace and a fine strike from Nathaniel Boayke. However, James Philpott struck twice in the second half to set up a nervy final 15 minutes which was only settled when Kameron English fired home five minutes from time.
Chris Moore shuffled the pack after the FA Trophy win against Berkhamsted with Sam Beasant and Rudi Pache the two survivors from that contest but it took just four minutes from the Geordies to hit the front.
Coker’s pace was causing problems and he won a free kick close to the corner flag. Ryan Case’s delivery caused chaos in the six yard box and Coker was there to stab the ball home from close range.
The quality of Hanwell’s set pieces caused consistent problems for the home defence and, following a foul that ended Case’s involvement in the game midway through the first half, they doubled their lead from another free kick that Glebe couldn’t deal with allowing Boayke to fire home from 20 yards.
Two minutes later, the Geordies were 3-0 up as Coker was felled in the penalty area. The frontman dusted himself down and sent the keeper the wrong way to seemingly put the tie beyond doubt.
Elliot Benyon nearly made it four before half time when his header was well saved after a delightful cross from Chris Regis but the Geordies had to settle for a three goal cushion at the break.
Glebe, with nothing to lose, started to commit bodies forward and pulled a goal back as Philpott turned home from six yards after a corner was not dealt with by the Geordies’ defence.
He had his second with 15 minutes to go from the penalty spot; Beasant, Saturday’s penalty shoot out hero, nearly pulled off another save but the penalty was just too powerful.
Glebe pushed forward looking for the equaliser that would force extra time but, on the counter, Hanwell settled matter as Alfie Pendlebury won his duel down the left flank, fed fellow substitute Jordan English. This season’s top scorer unselfishly passed to English who fired home to restore a two-goal cushion and erase any doubt as to which side would be progressing to the next round.
Hanwell: Beasant, Sutton, Richards, Seabrook, Duncan, Pache, Boayke, Case, Coker, Benyon, Regis
Subs: Rohart-Brown, Donellan, English, Edwards, Pendlebury.
Sam Beasant’s penalty heroics saw Hanwell Town overcome nine-man Berkhamsted in the Isuzu FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round on Saturday. Jordan Edwards’ early goal was cancelled out by Roger James’ close range strike on the hour mark.
Chaos then erupted with Dan Newton, Luke Andrews, and substitute Lewis Thorpe all seeing red for the visitors. Hanwell’s attempt to take advantage of their numerical advantage was unsuccessful but goalkeeper Beasant’s superb penalty saves sent them into the first-round proper.
There was a tense opening to the game with the first chance not coming until the 8th minute. Berkhamsted’s Simeon Olarerin worked his way into the box from the left wing but could only fire his shot into the side netting.
Three minutes later, Hanwell opened the scoring. Joe Wilson played a beautiful chipped through ball over the Berkhamsted defence, releasing Dan Carr on the right. The Geordie number 11 them fired a ball across the box. Jordan Edwards then smashed home from close range following a goal mouth scramble.
The Geordies nearly had a second ten minutes later. A quick counterattack found Edwards on the left and he played in Carr. The resulting cross couldn’t quite find Wilson at the back post.
On the 36th minute, Hanwell midfielder Mat Mackenzie was forced off with a shoulder injury. He was replaced by Leo Donnellan who partnered Callum Woodcock in midfield.
As the first half concluded, there was a clear rise in tension. Off ball incidents involving Roger James and Dan Newton had angered the Hanwell crowd.
The Geordies had their first chance of the second half from a free kick. Rod Orlando-Young was fouled just outside the area, but Edwards could only hit the wall, and the ball was eventually claimed by Henry Blackledge.
Chris Moore’s side should have doubled their lead when Edwards, Carr, and Alfie Pendlebury combined well on the right to give the Hanwell number 11 a chance from inside the six-yard box. Blackledge stood firm in the Berkhamsted goal, and the Geordies were left frustrated once again.
Hanwell were made to regret not taking their chances when the visitors levelled in the 60th minutes. A cross in from the left found an unmarked Roger James at the back post and the former Geordie made no mistake finishing past Beasant.
In the 72nd minute, Berkhamsted were reduced to 10 men following an aerial challenge from Newton on Ezekiel Coker that left the Hanwell substitute needing treatment. In the resulting fallout, Comrades unused substitute Lewis Thorpe was sent off.
In the 76th minute, a corner from the right-hand side was headed over by Will Hall as Hanwell looked to make the most of their numbers advantage.
Berkhamsted were punished further in the 83rd minute when Luke Andrews was sent off for second yellow card. Hanwell pushed forward over the remaining seven minutes and nine minutes of stoppage time but couldn’t find a way through.
Hanwell were perfect from their three penalties with Edwards, Carr, and Cameron Rohart-Brown all converting with confidence.
Jonathan Lacey scored Berkhamsted’s first penalty before Jack Tompkins and Olarerin saw their penalties saved and Matthew Bateman hit the left post.
Hanwell’s penalty heroics see them into the first round of the Isuzu FA Trophy. The Geordies had their best run in the competition in 2021/22 and 2022/23 where they reached the second round.
