Walton & Hersham 2-2 Hanwell Town

Hanwell showed character and togetherness as they twice battled back from going a goal down to take a deserved point at early season pacesetters, Walton & Hersham.

Chances were at a premium in the early stages as both sides sized each other up as the rain teemed down in north Surrey.

It was the Swans, though, that broke the deadlock as Lucas Defise found space down the right flank. His cross found Dawid Rogalski who fired home to open the scoring.

The Geordies were not behind for long as Alfie Pendlebury was brought down in the penalty area. The referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Jordan Edwards, who scored twice at Taunton, stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way for his ninth goal in all competitions.

Having got back on level terms before the break, Hanwell were stunned after the restart as they struggled to clear their lines. Lucas Defise found space and fired the ball past Sam Beasant.

This Hanwell team, though, never gives up and, roared on by their fans stood in the rain behind the goal, continued to press and probe for an equaliser.

That came just after the hour mark as Mat Mackenzie, who had his original shot blocked, fired home from the rebound to level the scores.

Both sides had chances to find a winner but neither could find the target. Tempers flared at the final whistle with both Dwayne Duncan and Dawid Rogalski receiving red cards for their part in the melee.

After back to back away draws, Hanwell are back at home on Saturday as they host Chertsey in the FA Cup.
