Hanwell Town 3-3 Walton & Hersham

Third-placed Walton & Hersham were held by Hanwell Town in a six-goal thriller at The Powerday Stadium.

Joe Waight’s opener put The Geordie’s ahead nine minutes before half-time but quick fire goals from Bobby-Joe Taylor and Ralph Vigrass put the visitors ahead before halftime.

Hanwell scored a quickfire double of their own in the second half. Ryan Cole and Dan Carr put the home side ahead with goals in the 50th and 56th minute respectively.

Then, with 25 minutes to go, Johl Powell levelled the game once again. Both sides seemed content with a point in a breathless encounter.

With only one loss in their last 11 league games, Hanwell knew they had what it took to challenge high flying Walton & Hersham. A September tie between the sides ended in a hotly contested 2-2 draw.

In the sun at The Powerday Stadium, The Swans started the game the brightest. Powell had the first chance of the game but Sam Beasant stood firm to keep the scores level.

In the 20th minute, a cross from Powell on the right rolled all the way past the goal before a follow-up shot was well blocked by Harry Seabrook.

After the next 16 minutes passed without event, Joseph Waight put The Geordies ahead. Dan Carr fired the ball into the box following a corner and the striker got on the end of a rebound to open the scoring.

The visitors quickly turned the game around. Bobby-Joe Taylor’s first goal for The Swans came after his whipped free-kick caught out Sam Beasant at the front post.

In first-half stoppage time Elliott Bolton smashed a ball across the box, at it reaches Ralph Vigrass who fired the ball in via a reflection.

Just after half-time, Waight found space in the box and forced a good save out of Laurence Shala. Wycombe loanee Ryan Cole reacted quickest to beat the Walton goalkeeper to the ball to level the scoring.

Just five minutes later, Waight brought the ball down to Alfie Pendlebury who laid the ball off to Carr on the edge of the box. The wing-back curled a beautiful shot into the top corner to put The Geordies ahead.

Walton responded well and, in the 75thminute, Thabo Kuaho crossed from the left and Powell tapped home to level the game once again.

Junior Eccleston came very close for the visitors with a header late on but Beasant sharply saved to secure another important point for Hanwell.

The result sees Hanwell drop to 11th in the Southern Premier League South table, nine points away from the relegation zone. They now face two away games in a week with a midweek trip to Frome followed by a visit to Gloucester next weekend.
