Hanwell Town 3-1 Bracknell Town

After a false start against Wimborne in the season opener on Saturday, goals from Alfie Pendlebury, Mat Mackenzie and Chris Regis gave Hanwell a richly deserved 3-1 win over Bracknell Town.

The Geordies made a bright start and put the visitors under pressure in the early stages and took the lead on 15 minutes. Chris Regis nipped in down the right flank before finding Jordan Edwards on the edge of the box. The summer signing from Chesham played in Alfie Pendlebury to fire the ball home and give the Geordies the lead.

The goal woke Bracknell up and Sam Beasant made an unbelievable save to deny Jordan Esprit, tipping his header onto the bar, before Dan Roberts somehow found the car park behind the stadium from five yards out when it seemed easier to score with the goal gaping.

However, Bracknell were level shortly before half-time as Grant Evans headed home from a ball in from the left flank.

Chris Moore rallied his Geordies at half-time and they were probing the Bracknell defence again in the second half. The pressure told as Mackenzie fired home from the edge of the edge of the area as Bracknell failed to clear their lines.

Holding onto leads was Hanwell's Achilles heel last season but they were resolute in defence and sealed all three points from a counter attack superbly finished off by Chris Regis to spark jubilant celebrations amongst the home support.
