Club Statement

After the tragic passing of Billy Vigar, Hanwell Town believe it si vital that we take steps to minimise the risk of similar accidents in the future.

Player safety and welfare must remain our highest priority and with that in mind, we will be making the below changes to The Oliver Connell & Son Community Stadium.

Pitch Width Reduction

• The pitch will be reduced by two metres to increase the run-off area.

Perimeter Wall – Concrete Section

• Remove the small existing section of concrete wall and replace it with a wooden structure with aluminium facia

Dugout Safety Improvements

• Remove the concrete pad in front of the dugouts and replace it with AstroTurf.

We believe concrete perimeters are a Non League Emergency which needs action as quickly as possible. Therefore we have applied for a Premier League Grant to assist us making these essential changes.

The thoughts of everyone at Hanwell Town remain with Billy’s Family and Friends as well as all at Chichester Town FC at this incredibly difficult time.
