For the first time for 32 years, the club has again got its hands on The London Senior Cup following their excellent 3-0 win over a young Brentford B side managed by one of the Town's ex players Sam Saunders a friend of our manager Chris Moore.
Our side showed four changes from that which had beaten Yate Town seventy two hours previously. Harry Seabrook replaced the injured Dan Carr whilst Eddie Cooper, Giovanni McGregor and QPR loanee Hassan Ridwan replaced Jordy Monguy, Bradley Clayton and Seth Patrick.
Town made a bright start and took the lead after just eight minutes. An excellent cross field pass by Taylor Miles found Elijah Oladunjoye through on goal and he made no mistake giving Reggie Rose in the Brentford goal no chance from close range. Taylor found the net himself in the twentieth minute from a great inswinging free kick from wide on the touchline. Hanwell were enjoying much of the possession and almost scored again when a fierce shot by Joe Wilson was on target but Rose made a good save. Brentford's Michael Olakigbe then had a good chance at the other end but only succeeded in shooting straight at Sam Beasant.
Brentford were much more in the game in the early stages of the second half and a great run through the heart of our defence by Ethan Laidlaw was only thwarted by a great last ditch tackle by Harry Seabrook and then shortly afterwards a fierce shot by Laidlaw saw the ball fly just over our crossbar. Brentford continued to enjoy the upper hand and Sam made an excellent save from Otis Honor's effort.
However, Hanwell scored again in the 65th minute with Seabrook heading home Taylor's fierce inswinging corner kick. This seemed to knock the stuffing out of the young Brentford side and Town saw out the remaining minutes comfortably albeit that Sam in keeping a third clean sheet in succession made a terrific save to turn a header from Brentford's Caelan Avenell from close range over the bar.
The final whistle brought a fine performance by the Town to an end and the celebrations quickly commenced !!!
