Hanwell Town 1-0 Cray Wanderers

anwell Town entered the second qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup on Tuesday evening, after Kameron English grabbed an injury-time winner to beatCrayWanderers 1-0.

In a replay of Saturday’s 2-2 draw, Hanwell manager, Chris Moore, made a couple of changes from the weekend’s team and whilst an open first half finished goalless, both sides had opportunities.

Cray came closest on 30 minutes after their standout performer, Lateef Adaja, hit the post following a wonderful mazey run.

Hanwell quickly responded after the break though, with Roberto Nditi forcing Craykeeper, Harry Seaden, into a close-range save; before the game trailed into a somewhat attritional second half.

Cray did have a couple of chances to break the deadlock, with Chris Dickson prompting a solid stop from Hanwell keeper, Sam Beasant, on 75 minutes and George Brooke volleying over the bar not long after.

But as extra-time loomed and pockets of space started to appear around theCray18-yard box, Hanwell’s Bradley Clayton and Taylor Miles became increasingly influential. Dan Carr had a couple of chances and having found himself clear at the back post, Kameron English shot tamely into theCraykeeper’s midriff.

In the 92ndminute though, English soon made amends - brilliantly manoeuvring into a shooting position and striking the ball deep into the Cray net.

Speaking after the game, Moore said he felt “it was just one of those games where one goal was going to win it”. Despite his team, not being “very good” in the first half and “a few words” being said during the break – he was pleased that his team finally found “a way” to progress into the next round.
